With the burning of his ranch, the criminal career of the plunderer, John Safford, ends. The following summer, Tex and Carson investigate a band of robbers that carries out raids armed with Gatling, a deadly machine gun stolen from Fort Huachuca thanks to the corrupt sergeant Holbrook. The leader of the ugly mugs is the desperado Contreras, tied to the rancher, Don Guillermo, and to his future son-in-law, the ex captain Lafferty. But, confiding in the pards, Lafferty affirms that he is still in the army and operating under cover to spy on the rich hidalgo who dreams of winning back his lands, which today are annexed to Arizona!
