A mysterious ancient message drawn up in Egyptian hieroglyphics seems to be at the center of everyone’s desires, from the American secret services to the English governer, to a handful of common hoodlum. Nhobody is able to decipher it, except for the vague and absent-minded professor Wilcoxon, who states that it represents a prayer. But what is the real message, the one capable of arousing interests that have so little of the academic? And what role is being played, in this strange comedy, by the clever Sharon, the governor’s lover?
